Controversy’s favourite child Ram Gopal Varma is in news again after he announced that he will cast Maria Susairaj in his film  ‘It is not a love story’.  Political parties in Maharashtra protested on his decision to cast Maria in his movie.

A few parties even held a demonstration outside his office in Mumbai. Varma went to the Police station and filed a complaint on BJP. Ramu has decided to seek judicial and police intervention following telephone threats to him by BJP Yuva Morcha on casting Maria in his film.

Producer C Kalyan arrested in Chennai

Andhra Pradesh’s CID Police officers today (June 29, 2011) arrested producer C Kalyan in Chennai where he was hiding from the police. In case related to financial dealings with the Bhanu, the prime suspect in murder of faction leader Maddelachervu Suri. Two days ago, Kalyan approached court through his lawyer to seek anticipatory bail but he didn’t get and Police have been looking for him to arrest and they found he’s hiding in Chennai city.

Shalimaar Video company also lodged a complaint against C Kalyan for cheating their company relating to the video rights of films Khaleja and Komaram Puli.

Singanamala Ramesh in police custody

Producer Singanamala Ramesh, who produced big budgeted films like Mahesh Babu’s Khaleja and Pawan Kalyan’s Komaram Puli , was arrested by Hyderabad Police in the wee hours of Friday (June 24, 2011) at his residence in Chennai. Police found he had murky financial dealings with Bhanu, the prime suspect in the case of faction leader Maddelacheruvu Suri. Both Ramesh and his wife were arrested but his wife was released immediately as she got bail but Ramesh was denied bail.

Singanamala Ramesh began his career in the film industry as film financier and soon turned producer and made big budgeted movies in both Telugu and Tamil languages. (telugucinema)

Jayasudha hospitalized

Senior actress-politician Jayasudha, who is serving as Secunderabad MLA, has been hospitalized on Tuesday.

Jayasudha’s personal assistant confirmed that she was rushed to hospital in the capital after she suffered gastric problems. She is currently undergoing treatment and will be discharged in a couple of days.

Jayasudha is staying away from films these days due to her office as MLA. However, she recently signed up for a role in Pawan Kalyan’s Dabangg remake Gabbar Singh, directed by Harish Shankar.(galatta)

South superstar Rajinikanth to be discharged soon

Mumbai: Tamil superstar Rajinikanth is showing huge improvement in his health and the actor is expected to be discharged anytime on Tuesday.

Apparently, buzz has it that Rajini will be out of the hospital tomorrow morning but he won’t immediately return to India.

Talking to a daily, a source said, “Rajini has been advised to stay in Singapore for a while so that the doctors who have treated him can do periodical checkups for a few weeks. Superstar will be back to India in July.”

Rajinikanth: The next coolie

Rajinikanth’s post-illness film Rana, will now be projected in the same way as the Big B’s Coolie a film where the super-hero conquers death.

This has an uncanny resemblance to the Big B’s classic Coolie. On 26 July 1982, Bachchan had a near-fatal accident while shooting for the film. After two months in the hospital, he returned to the sets. And now, it’s the Tamil superstar’s turn. According to sources, the Coolie-Rana parallel will run deeper still.

After his recovery Bachchan’s character in Coolie had not died as per the script. In Rana too, all three characters to be played by Rajini will now live, although one of them was supposed to die.

Rajini in Singapore hospital on Big B’s advice

Mumbai: Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has been constantly in touch with superstar Rajinikanth and his family ever since the ‘Robot’ star was hospitalized last month.

Rajini, who flew to Singapore recently for further treatment of renal failure, was actually advised by Big B to head to Mount Elizabeth Hospital. And, apparently he also had a word with the doctors over there.

Talking to a daily, a source close to Rajini’s family said, “Rajiniji has been diagnosed with renal failure leading to kidney complications. Rajiniji’s family is indebted to Amitji for recommending the treatment in Singapore.”

I’ll never liplock: Tamannaah

Responding to the rumours that she has charged a whopping Rs 1.25 crores to perform a liplock scene with Jr. NTR in her upcoming Telugu film Oosaravelli, directed by talented director Surender Reddy, ravishing actress Tamannaah said that she will never liplock, stating that she is uncomfortable with kissing scenes.

The actress revealed that the first line in her contract say that she would never wear a bikini or act in a liplock scene. “No matter how much money is offered, I will never do it,” she said. The actress also lashed out at the media for spreading such rumours.

Nagarjuna is safe; misses plane accident

Nagarjuna missed a plane accident by a whisker after the pilot noticed some technical faults at the time of take off. The incident occurred earlier today (Tuesday, May 17, 2011) at Shamshabad Airport, when Nagarjuna was on board a British Airways flight. After all the passengers were seated, the pilot noticed that the tyres were malfunctioning and immediately he made an emergency landing.

There were several other VIPs onboard that plane. No one was hurt in this accident.

Police cases against Khushbu, Vadivelu

Police have registered cases against popular South Indian actress-DMK speaker Khushbu and comedian Vadivelu on the basis of complaints lodged with the Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu that they violated the Model Code of Conduct during their recent election campaigns in Theni and Tiruvarur districts respectively.

In the first case, Khushbu allegedly interrupted road traffic while campaigning at Palani Chettipatti in Theni. Another case against her was booked when eight cars were found to be following her vehicle at two places in the district without prior permission, authorities said, adding that all the eight vehicles have been seized.

Interestingly, she is going to dub her own voice for 100% Love . “Yes I have dubbed for two reels and is waiting for my director’s approval. I don’t wish to speak anything about it now, as it’s too early. But one day I will definitely dub in my own voice for both Tamil and Telugu films,” she said.

Red corner notice against NRI for remarks against Chiranjeevi

HYDERABAD: Red corner notices will soon be issued against a Sydney-based non-resident Indian (NRI) for allegedly posting defamatory content on actors Balakrishna, Chiranjeevi and their family members on various websites.

In February, Balakrishna and Chiranjeevi Yuvata lodged separate complaints with the Central Crime Station ( CCS) police regarding abusive content against the popular actors on several websites.

During the probe, police found that the websites in contention ihatebalayya.com and ihatechiru.com were hosted in the US and the server was in Sydney, Australia. Police also got the name of the accused, an NRI, responsible for posting defamatory content on several websites and blogs against the actors.

Facing arrest, Rajini kin settle case out of court

CHENNAI: A city magistrate court extended an arrest warrant against filmstar Rajnikanth’s wife Latha Rajinikanth and daughter Soundarya Rajnikanth on Wednesday, but recalled it after the financial dispute was settled out of court.

The bailable warrant was issued by XXIII Metropolitan Magistrate court in Saidapet on a complaint filed by businessman Sumerchand Bafana of Teynampet. According to the complainant, Soundarya and Latha Rajinikanth had obtained a loan of Rs 20 lakh from him for business exigencies in August 2009. They issued two cheques, dated December 1, 2010, towards repayment. But the cheques were dishonoured by the bank. Bafana filed a complaint on December 24, 2010 at the magistrate court.

RGV to be interrogated?

It is widely romoured that maverick director Ram Gopal Varma would be soon questioned by the police in connection with producer C. Kalyan’s disclosure that Bhanu Kiran, the prime accused in the murder of slain factionist Maddelacheruvu Suri, was the financial coordinator of Rakta Charitra.

The City Crime Station (CCS) officials questioned C. Kalyan on Thursday about his alleged links with Suri and Bhanu Kiran.

According to sources, the officials conducted the interrogation for over one and a half hours based on the information that the producer had links with both the factionist leader and his alleged assailant on telephone.

Prabhu Deva to pay Rs 30 Crs to wife?

Prabhu Deva has finally come for out of the court settlement with his wife Ramalath seeking divorce from her. A joint affidavit signed by the couple was submitted in the 1st additional family court in Chennai on Tuesday (Dec 28) seeking divorce by mutual consent. The settlement, which will be formalised by a court decree after a period of six months, has brought to an end a rather stormy court battle.

Ramlath agreed to withdraw her petition, seeking restoration of her conjugal rights and to restrain Prabhu’s marriage with Nayanthara. In their joint petition, they say : “it had become very difficult rather impossible for them to live together or to lead a normal life.”
