KCR picks unknown biz firm to woo businessmen
HYDERABAD: If K Chandrasekhar Rao wanted to allay the concerns of investors over Telangana, a meeting with national industry bodies such as Ficci, Assocham, CII or local bodies such as Fapcci would be the normal course.
Instead, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) supremo is using an unknown consulting firm International Market Assessment India Pvt Ltd to convey his message to the business community.
What is more intriguing is that there is neither any information on who will be attending the meeting nor anything much is known about the consulting firm — said to be a subsidiary of an Australian outfit. All that is known is that KCR is slated to address the firm’s India CEO Forum on Wednesday morning in a closed-door session at Taj Krishna in Banjara Hills.
British MP’s wife found working as a sex worker
LONDON: A British MP’s wife works as a prostitute charging 70 pounds “for oral sex without a condom followed by full sex with a condom”, said a media report here. The revelation left the MP stunned as he said: “That’s a horrible shock”.
Sunday Mirror reported that Tory MP Mike Weatherley’s Brazilian wife Carla, 39, works at three seedy brothels.
The expose could prove embarrassing to Prime Minister David Cameron, who campaigned alongside Weatherley at the general election earlier this year.
Rosaiah counters all Babu allegations
Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam’s elected representatives created a ruckus in the Secretariat on the fee reimbursement issue on Monday even as the Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah gave a dressing down to their chief, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, on “politicising the scheme” when he met him later.
The CM came to the camp office in the evening to meet a delegation led by Mr Naidu. On every issue raised by Mr Naidu, the CM had a ready answer.
The CM said he would convene a meeting with the professional colleges to give a firm commitment on fee reimbursement and convince them to admit the students.
Jagan hits out at anti-YSR newspapers
Ongole/Kandukur: The Kadapa MP, Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, came down heavily on some newspapers for publishing reports against him and his father during his Odarpu Yatra in Pamuru region on Monday. He said that some papers which developed animosity against YSR during his tenure as Chief Minister are giving vent to the anger through misinformation against him.
He maintained that he was not alone even if MLAs were abstaining from his tour since people are behind him. He said that people in the state know what has been happening for the last one year.
Jayaprada meets CM
HYDERABAD: The Lok Sabha member from Rampur and former film actress Jayaprada on Sunday met chief minister K Rosaiah at his residence. On record, Jayaprada told media after the meeting that it was just a courtesy call. “I am visiting the state after a long time and I had not met Rosaiah garu after he became chief minister,” she said.
But this meeting assumes importance since there were speculations that Jayaprada, who was expelled from Samajwadi party in February last, has been planning to stage a come back to state politics.
Chiru hits back at Jagan
TIRUPATI: After kicking up a furore with his remarks on Jaganmohan Reddy’s wealth, Chiranjeevi set off another row by asserting that he is not hankering for the chief minister’s chair like some desperate leaders (read Jagan).
Taking a dig at Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy, the PRP president said these leaders are out to grab the CM’s chair at any cost. “But I am not like those leaders who are playing dirty politics to attain the CM’s post,” he said.
Jeevitha receives threat SMS
HYDERABAD: Former film actress Jeevitha, who launched a tirade against Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi recently, claimed that she had received a threat text message on her phone.
Ms. Jeevitha sent the phone containing the text message to the Jubilee Hills police station through her friend. However, police suggested that she should lodge a complaint with the Cyber Crime police as the offense attracted provisions of IT Act.
The message purportedly sent by a certain Srinivas, president of Kapunadu Sangarshana Samithi said:
“You have not stopped allegations against Chiru. I will arrange a suicide bomb as soon as possible.”(Hindu)
TDP throws challenge at KCR
HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam on Tuesday challenged TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao to reveal the names of party leaders who purportedly telephoned him to join his party and make public the party which initiated him into politics and made him Minister. Addressing a press conference, Nagam Janardhan Reddy, convenor of Telugu Desam forum on Telangana said Mr. Rao would be thoroughly disappointed as none of the TD leaders were interested in shifting their loyalties. They were happy in the party and the entire cadre in the region remained with them. In fact, they were considering launching a joint action committee to spearhead the struggle for separate State.
Chiru sustains minor eye injury
KADAPA: Praja Rajyam president K. Chiranjeevi sustains a minor eye injury when a garland hurled at him by a fan landed on his face in Proddatur on Friday evening.
A near stampede-like situation prevailed at Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari temple in Proddatur town, when Chiranjeevi offered special prayers on the first Friday of the auspicious Sravana month with fans jostling with one another to greet him. Some fans who were some distance away, hurled garlands at Chiranjeevi causing a minor injury in his eye. A visibly upset Chiranjeevi pushed away fans and made his way out of the temple.
Manmohan Singh becomes third longest serving PM

Chiru’s blood bank seeks audit of accounts
HYDERABAD: Taking exception to the allegations levelled by actor couple Rajasekhar and Jeevitha against its Blood Bank, the Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust has requested the government to audit its blood bank’s financial accounts and make the report public.
Managing Trustee Allu Aravind and Praja Rajyam leaders Kotagiri Vidyadhara Rao and B.Veda Vyas submitted a representation to this effect in the Chief Minister’s Office here on Wednesday.
The mudslinging by some individuals against Chiranjeevi and the Blood Bank hurt the sentiments of people and therefore government was requested to do the auditing.
PRP launches attack against Jagan
HYDERABAD: After volunteering to extend support to the Congress government in the State in the event of a threat to its stability, the Praja Rajyam party launched a strong attack against Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy for the first time.
At a press conference here on Monday, PR leader K. Vidyadhara Rao said without naming Jagan that what kind of politics it was to take up a signature campaign in support his (Jagan) anointment as Chief Minister even as father’s body was lying in state. He also sought to know how some political heirs had made it so big financially in a very short span of time.
Rajashekhar hits out at Chiranjeevi
Hyderabad: Actor Rajashekhar and his wife Jeevitha lashed out at the Praja Rajyam chief, Mr K. Chiranjeevi, for his remarks that the Kadapa MP, Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, was corrupt.
The actor couple, who are members of the Congress, alleged that Mr Chiranjeevi was trying to ‘divide’ the Congress in the state with an eye on the Chief Minister’s seat.
“Chiranjeevi earlier created a rift amongst actors in Tollywood and is trying to make the most of misunderstandings in the Congress and project himself as the only alternative,” said Mr Rajasekhar.

HYDERABAD/NELLORE: Chiranjeevi tried to put at rest all speculations over his growing bonhomie with Rosaiah by taking on Jaganmohan Reddy. In a veiled reference to the Kadapa MP, Chiranjeevi wondered as to how political heirs are earning crores of rupees in a matter of few years.
Chiranjeevi said he would not hesitate to support the Congress government in the event of a political crisis in the state. The PRP chief said his party would support the government if a situation arises to ensure that there is no political instability in the state.
Maharashtra Government treated us as ‘political prisoners’: Naidu
“They tried to physically and mentally intimidate us. They tried to torment us in all ways possible. I have not come across such an atrocious situation in my 32-year-old political career,” he alleged.
A day after he was sent back to Andhra Pradesh along with his supporters, TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu today accused the Maharashtra government of treating him and his party workers as “political prisoners” during their five-day detention at Dharmabad.
“The Maharashtra government did not treat us as elected public representatives. It only treated us as political prisoners,” Mr. Naidu said while addressing a dharna in front of Mahatma Gandhi statue in the Assembly premises here today.
Chandrababu, colleagues being moved to Aurangabad jail
Nanded (Maharashtra): Amid high drama, protests and caning by the police, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Chandrababu Naidu and his colleagues were Tuesday moved from Dharmabad to the Aurangabad Central Jail, around 350 km from here.
Naidu and his supporters, who were remanded to judicial custody till July 26, shall be lodged in the Aurangabad Central Jail, located in Harsul, on the outskirts of the historic city.
The TDP activists led by Naidu had entered Dharmabad town, around eight kilometres from the Maharashtra-Andhra Pradesh border in Nanded district, to protest against the construction of Babhali Barrage on Godavari river.
CM reshuffles secretaries’ portfolios
HYDERABAD: Chief minister K Rosaiah reshuffled the subjects allotted to the secretaries following the appointment of Sam Bob as the new principal secretary in the CMO in place of Jannat Hussain, who has taken over as the new chief information commissioner. Sam Bob was the principal secretary, industries, for over three years.
The chief minister while welcoming the new principal secretary said that the CMO will get a new fillip in the overall administrative set up. Rosaiah hoped that the appointment of P K Agarwal, a senior-most retired IAS officer and former special chief secretary as adviser will help him in the matters of crucial issues related to various development and welfare schemes.
Cong puts Jagan under watch
NEW DELHI: Congress on Monday indicated that Jaganmohan Reddy was under watch, with AICC incharge Veerappa Moily saying he had sought reports from the state on the MP’s `odarpu’ yatra.
The veiled warning came on a day when Andhra affairs dominated the central leadership. While party chief Sonia Gandhi met chief minister K Rosaiah to discuss organisational issues, Rahul Gandhi met a bunch of young MLAs from the state for the second time in three days. Rahul has been meeting MLAs from all states but AP is seen as different in view of the post-YSR chaos.
High command issues veiled threat to Jagan
New Delhi: The Congress on Monday issued a veiled threat to the MP, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy, by stating that his comments on the Congress high command and the AP Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah are not in the best interests of the party.
The party will be forced to act, said the party’s AP incharge and Union law minister, Mr Veerappa Moily. Speaking with mediapersons, Mr Moily said, “If he has given the statement, it is not good and it’s not in the interest of the party.” He added that the party was waiting for the report on the matter from the Pradesh Congress Committee.
