RGV finishes ‘Dongala Mutaa’ shoot
As announced earlier, Ram Gopal Varma has completed the shooting of Dongala Mutaa in just 5 days. The film’s shoot began on Feb 9th, and was wrapped up on Sunday, February 13, 2011.
It’s been shot on plain normal shifts that is from 9 am to 6 pm without a single shift being extended. The speed of the shoot is attributed to the unique structure of the production process – 4 Canon cameras were used to capture every shot in multiple angles simultaneously, with absolutely no lights or additional equipment such as dollys, jibs etc. The entire film has been shot hand-held and in natural light.
Kajal signs first Hindi film
Glam queen Kajal Agarwal, who is riding high on success, is now entering in Hindi film industry. Director Rohith Shetty (of several hit movies like Golmaal) signs her for his new film, remake of Tamil hit Singam (‘Yamudu’ in Telugu). She will be playing the love interest of the film’s hero Ajay Devgan. In the original Tamil movie Anushka played the female lead and Rohith Shetty was tried roping in Anushka but he finally chose Kajal. He reportedly saw her Telugu films – and Magadheera, Arya 2Darling and was impressed with her looks and her screen presence.
Nitya Menon in Siddharth’s ‘O My Friend’
Post the success of Ala Modalaindi, Nitya Menon is flooded with offers. She already has been paired up with Siddhardh’s current bilingual – 180 . And she once again would romance the handsome hero in his soon to be launched flick – O My Friend (working title), to be produced by Dil Raju and directed by newcomer Venu Sriram.
Earlier Amrita Rao was chosen for this film but she opted out of the project. So Nitya Menon is now stepped in. So, she will be working with Siddhu in two consecutive movies.
Sruthi Haasan in demand
Sruthi Haasan celebrates her 25th birthday today (January 28). She might be celebrating this birthday with much frolic as her career is booming. She is in much demand in Telugu film industry now thanks to Ananaganaga O Dheerudu . She looked like a Diva in the film and she won the hearts of the youth in Andhra Pradesh. So she was recently approached by producer K S Ramarao for his film with NTR Jr in the direction of Boyapati Srinu and Puri Jagannadh is also planning to cast her opposite Mahesh Babu in his proposed film, The Business Man.
EVV Satyanarayana Passed Away
Director of several blockbusters and trend setter in comedy movies, EVV Satyanarayana died of cancer on Friday night at Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad. He had been suffering from throat cancer from long time and underwent to treatment in Mumbai last year and recuperated. But again his health was deteriorated last week and he was admitted in Apollo on Jan 19th. On Friday night, he passed away leaving his family and fans in sorrow. He was 52 and survived by wife and two sons – Aryan Rajesh and Allari Naresh – both of them are actors.
EVV Satyanarayana In ICU
EVV Satyanarayana is admitted in ICU. This is the latest news that was kept under wraps till this night. It is known that the veteran director has been suffering from severe illness with multiple organ ailments.
After he got cured miraculously he has been moving in good health but sources say that he restarted cigarette smoking and hence things turned worse now. The news has come from Apollo hospital sources.

Tarun’s next: ‘Yuddham’
Chocolate hero Tarun’s next film under the direction of Bharathi Ganesh was launched on Thursday at Rama Naidu Studios in Hyderabad. Dasari Narayana Rao and movie moghul D. Rama Naidu attended the movie launch. A suspense cum youthful love story, this film is titled Yuddham.
Yuddham revolves around a conflict between a prominent politician and student leader. New face Yami is the heroine. Real Star Srihari plays a powerful role. It is learnt that he is acting as the heroine’s brother. Chakri will compose music. The makers are planning to complete the shooting by the first week of April and release the film by April end.(galatta)
RGV announces ‘Dongala Mutha’ with Ravi Teja
Ram Gopal Varma is set to create history. He announces a new film titled Dongala Mutha with Ravi Teja, Charmee, Ajay and Subbaraju in the lead roles and the uniqueness of the film is that he would complete the entire movie within 5 days.
“I am planning to start the film on February 11th and finish it in 5 days. Using a revolutionary digital technology, I will complete the movie in just 5 days. And what’s more none of the stars wont’ be charging any remuneration as I am doing it as an experiment. Even the crew members would be just 8 members. Want to prove that films are made on ideas than money, technology and huge crew members,” RGV said in a press note.
Tabu and Tapsee in Amitabh – Puri’s ‘Budda’
Puri Jagannadh is set to begin his Hindi film with Big B from February. As Puri Jagannadh is in the last leg of shooting of his current film, Nenu Naa Rakshasi starring Rana and Ileana, he is moving on to his ambitious Hindi film with Amitabh from February. Big B has given green signal for the movie’s shoot. The film has been titled Budda (means Old Guy ). So Studio 18 that produces the flick is beginning it from Feb 23.
Lakshmi Rai opposite Balakrishna
After doing just two Telugu films Kanchanamala Cable TV (2005) and Neeku Naaku (2006) in the early stage of her career, model-turned-actress Lakshmi Rai has literally vanished from Tollywood to focus more on neighbouring industries where she proved to be a successful heroine, especially in Malayalam!
Now, after a gap of four years, the actress has finally accepted her third Telugu film. According to sources, she will be be one of the heroines in veteran Balakrishna’s next film to be directed by Paruchuri Murali. M.L. Kumar Chowdary of Sri Keerthi Creations is the producer. The film is expected to go on to floors shortly.

‘Parama Veera Chakra’ music launched
Music of Balakrsihna’s Parama Veera Chakra was launched in grand manner. The ceremony took place on Wednesday evening at Shilpa Kala Vedika in Hyderabad. Veteran Tamil director K Balachander was the chief guest for the audio launch. As this is 150th movie of Dasari Narayana Rao, KB was invited specially for the ceremony. Dasari’s contemporary Telugu directors K Vishwanath and K Raghavendra Rao also graced the event and Raghavendra Rao unveiled the first audio cd formally.
NTR Jr, Kalyan Ram, Tarakaratna and directors – Rajamouli, Srinu Vytla and Vinyak also attended. A host of comedians including Brahmanandam, Ali, AVS and one of the film’s heroines Sheela were present too.(telugucinema)
Ileana likely to replace Kajal in Merupu?
The crew members of Ram Charan Teja’s forthcoming film Merupu, being directed by Dharani, are gearing up to commence its next schedule soon. According to latest reports, pretty lass Ileana is likely to replace Kajal Aggarwal as the heroine due to date problems.
Merupu has Ram Charan Teja playing an Indian football player, who strives to take his team to an international standard despite match fixing and other inner politics in the selection of players. Notably, Ram Charan Teja’s father Chiranjeevi played a goal keeper in Vijetha. Devi Sri Prasad scores the music. Camera is by P.C. Sreeram, editing by V.T. Vijayan, art by Thota Tharani and dialogues by Paruchuri Brothers. The film is produced by N.V. Prasad and Paras Jain under the banner of Mega Supergood Films.
Samantha and Sameera are ‘Erra Gulabilu’
Erra Gulabilu is one of the best movies directed by K Bharatiraja in the late 70′s. Starring Kamal Haasan and Sridevi in the lead role, the thriller won many accolades. Now Gautam Vasudev Menon is making a new thriller with the same title. Starring Samantha (who made debut in Gautham’s Ye Maaya Chesave) and Sameera Reddy in the lead roles, the film is also being made in Tamil as Nadunisi Naaygal. But the Telugu version has been titled Erra Gulabilu. Ashok Vallabhaneni is producing it in Telugu. Manoj Paramhansa of YMC provides the camera work. The film has no songs.
Tapasee’s navel drives Vasthadu Naa Raju into trouble
Vasthadu Naa Raju starring Vishnu Manchu and Tapasee has run into trouble with the Censors. When the movie’s trailer was recently presented for the Censors’ scrutiny, a scene from a song sequence which exposed Tapasee’s navel in close-up was the matter of objection by the Censor Board. Actor-producer Vishnu Manchu was upset with the Censors’ objection, as the song was shot in Venice on a high budget. Tollywood circles were also confused with the objection for a navel shot, as numerous Tollywood movies featured similar scenes. The main film is yet to be certified.
Samantha, Gautham Menon together again
After their super hit combination in Yem Maya Chesave, cute actress Samantha and master romantic film maker Goutham Menon are joining hands once again!
According to sources, Gautham Menon will direct Samantha in a Tamil-Telugu bilingual to be made by Ashok Valabhaneni under the banner of Manadesam Movies.
Besides Samantha, Sameera Reddy, Karthik and Veera will also play lead roles. The film is now in pre-production. The film’s title and other cast will be announced soon.
Deepika’s item song in Rana’s film
Leading Bollywood beauty Deepika Padukone has agreed to perform an item number for Tollywood’s young heart throb Daggubati Rana’s debut Hindi film Dum Maro Dum, being directed by Rohan Sippy.
According to a unit member, “This song will be shot next week and would be contemporary and extremely urban.” The song, a remix version of the famous ‘Dum Maaro Dum’ song of Hare Rama Hare Krishna, has been composed by Pritam. Starring Abhishek Bachchan in the main lead role, the film is now progressing in Goa and is set to release on April 22, 2011.
Nagavalli gets ‘A’ certificate
Victory Venkatesh’s much-awaited Nagavalli has completed Censor formalities. The film was awarded ‘A’ certificate by the Censor Board without a single cut. The film is now set to grace screens on Thursday (December 16).
Nagavalli, directed by P. Vasu, is the remake of super hit Kannada film Apta Rakshaka. Bellamkonda Suresh is producing the film under the banner of Sri Sai Ganesh Productions.
The film stars five heroines: Anushka, Kamalini Mukherjee, Shraddha Das, Poonam Kaur and Richa Gangopadhyay. Music is composed by Guru Kiran, cinematography by Shyam K. Naidu, dialogues by Paruchuri Brothers and editing by Marthand K. Venkatesh.
Anurag Basu confirms Ileana in ‘Barfee’
Ileana is making debut in Hindi films opposite Ranbir Kapoor is already well known to film lovers. The film’s director Anurag Basu now officially confirms her presence in the movie titled Barfee (means ‘Sweet’). She plays second lead in the movie that has Priyanka Chopra as main heroine. “Anurag showed the portfolio of Ileana to Ranbir Kapoor who felt Ileana had the same delicacy and grace as Deepika Padukone. He immediately approved of Ileana. Things were finalized within days. Anurag met Ileana and her mother and explained the role in Barfee and also that Priyanka Chopra plays the other part,” said some source.
Bhimlee court summons Anushka in a land row
A court in Vishakapatnam summoned Sweety Sheety aka Anushka in a land row pertaining to Lingmurthy, an NRI. On December 26, Anushka has to appear before the court in the case. Along with some film celebrities, Anushka bought some land at Boyapalem area in Madhurawada circle of Bhimlee from a person called Bullireddy four years ago. Although the site belongs to Lingamurthy, Bullireddy sold them off and Anushka made GPA with this person. So Lingmurthy went to court on this. Anushka was asked to appear before the court several times but she didn’t turn up nor did she try to settle the matter out of the court. So Bhimlee court issued summons today (Dec 6, 2010).(telugucinema)
