Without doubt, Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori are two of the prettiest people you’re going to see on screen.

Hrithik is staggeringly handsome and director Anurag Basu frames him in the tightest of tight close-ups. There is of course the requisite dance sequence and bare torso scene but even in moments of anguish, Hrithik’s blue-green eyes are ablaze.

Barbara is lovely with real texture and a feisty spirit. Together they are so luminous that the frame lights up when they are in it. Their crackling chemistry keeps Kites soaring.

Sri Mannarayana (Balakrishna) is a lecturer in a college in Hyderabad but he doesn’t tolerate any injustice and bashes up the wronged guys. A voluptuous female colleague (Namita) loves him. So is Janaki (Sneha Ullal) who is saved by Sri Mannarayana from goons. When a rowdy (Aditya Menon) from Vizag comes to take away Janaki from Sri Mannarayana, a flash back is revealed. 30 years ago, in Bobbili, a family of landlords treats the local people as slaves and kills if anyone revolts against. Now enters, a foreign returned doctor Narasinha (Balakrishna) belonging to Bobbili royal dynasty to save the people. Within no time, he takes up law onto his hands and becomes savior. But he and his wife (Nayanatara) are killed in a fight in the end. It is Sri Mannarayana’s job to finish the mission.

What’s it about!

Balu (Varun Sandesh) is a college dropout in USA and he falls for the charm of his neighbor Swapna (Anita). They happily ‘roam’ance around the USA but their parents oppose to their love and both Balu and Swapna agree to not to see each other for a period of time. At the end, they come to a decision that they can’t live separately. But what fate has in store for them?

Karthik (Naga Chaitanya) is just 22 years old and finished Engineering and aims to become film director. He falls in love with 24-year-old Jessy (Samantha), daughter of his house owner. Jessy is Malayali Christian and works with a software company. First she refuses Karthik’s proposal of love as he is younger than her and she’s Christian and he’s Hindu. But when he comes down to Aleppy when she moves there on a Holiday to impress her and she falls for his charms. Next comes how they go through family problems, their emotional conflicts, etc.

A Chief Minister (Suman) injures severely in a bomb blast. On hospital bed, before breathing the last one, he asks his US returned son Arjun Prasad (Rana) to become the next chief minister of the state.   Arjun learns that his father is very corrupted politician and his mother also asks him to become CM to cleanse the corrupted system. But his relative and ruling MLA Dhanraj has already mobilized all the MLAs to support his name for the CM chair. Dhanraj is very corrupted and is criminal. Arjun plays the same rules of game that the corrupted politicians do to win his aim – to become the CM. He wins the post and vows to mobilize Rs One Lakh Crores by raiding all the politicians and officers to provide good governance to the people. While he is on this mission, he naturally faces obstacles from his own party members, becomes victim of the political conspiracies, et al. How he goes against the system to he become real leader is all about the movie. Meanwhile, he also romances with a Radio Jackie and another media person.

What’s it about!

Ramesh aka Rummy (Nagarjuna) is arrested by Police and the police officer (Shayaji Shinde) interrogates him on how could he dupe the cop in the past several times. Rummy starts telling his story: how he became a K.D after an incident in his childhood. As a teenage boy, he was fascinated with Cricket but his drunkard father didn’t allow him and soon he makes friendship with a local teenage girl Janaki. Their friendship grew into love but her parents oppose this romance. Forced by her parents, Janaki refuses to elope with Rummy and asks him to earn money first. Feeling cheated, Rummy is on the mission for earning by duping others, etc. Now, he is a big con man in Goa with the help of local don (Ankur). Rummy also meets a young Single mother Sandhya (Mamta) who agrees to act as his wife for a mission. Rest of the movie is how Rummy’s life changes after Sandhya’s arrival in his life.

‘My Name is Khan, and I am not a terrorist’ – one line sure to be mouthed by you as you step out of the theatre. And mind you, there are many other priceless quotes.

My Name is Khan is unlike any other Karan Johar-directed film, although it has glimpses of his past work. It does not have masala, no mindless song and dance, and no comic fillers. It has a very strong main message, and several others tucked in. KJo has sure come a long way from candyfloss.

A film on carrom seemed like a good idea. Apart from cricket, this is one game very close to the hearts of Indians – and probably the most played indoor game before pool took over in the late ’90s.

Chandan Arora’s Striker is about carrom champ Surya (Siddharth). But it is not about the game alone. It is also about Surya’s journey in which the game has played an integral part.

Striker travels back and forth in time between 1977 and 1992. The film is set in the Mumbai ghetto of Malvani. Smuggling and gang wars were big then, so were dreams of a job in Dubai, and carrom.

Ajay (Manoj) belongs to a rich feudal lord’s family in Chittore district. His father is died in faction killings, he takes oath to unite both the warring families – his uncle’s Mahendra Naidu (Ahuti Prasad) and his rival Seshadri Naidu (Jayaprakash). Meanwhile, he also falls in love with his maradalu Girija (Sheena). How this guy unites both the families with his knack forms the rest of the story.

Analysis

Salman Khan in a period film?!! I won’t deny I was a bit apprehensive about how Veer would turn up to be. Yes, from the look and feel it did look like a period film, but fifteen minutes into the film, I was pleasantly surprised to find myself enjoying the plot as we saw cannons roar, swords clash and men on galloping horses slaying one another on the battlefield.

Venkata Ramana (Venkatesh), a ventriloquist by profession, postpones his marriage waiting for his ‘dream girl’. Despite age catching on, he purses his dream. On a trip to Paris to perform his art for a Telugu association, he meets the event organizer Paris Prasad (Brahmanandam) and falls in love at first sight with Prasad’s relative Pooja (Trisha). Paris Prasad asks Pooja to pretend to love Venkata Ramana so that they can derive entertainment from it. But Venkata Ramana loves her seriously thinking her reciprocal attitude. On the other hand, in Rayalaseema in Andhra Pradesh, Pooja’s family fixes alliance with her bava and forces her to get married to that rowdy. Post interval the film further goes several turns. 

What’s it about! 

Chari (NTR) is an assistant poojari to Bhattacharya (Brahmanandam) and performing poojas on religious activities is their livelihood. Thinking of marrying the beautiful Chandralekha (Nayanatara), who lost her father, Bhattacharya acts as savior to her family but she loves Chari eventually. On other hand, there is Narsinha or Narsi in short (NTR) who steals money from gangsters and hands over it to a police officer (Shayaji Shinde) who promised Narsi a post in police system. Narsi also romances with this police officer’s daughter (Sheela). As things progressing with comic scenes, suddenly it is revealed that a Don (Mahesh Manjrekar) in Kolkota in on the look out for Narsi. Why this Don want Narsi and how Chari and Narsi, both estranged twins, meet forms the rest of the film.

Prime star Jagapathi Babu and Priyamani are being known as the ideal pair of Tollywood and here they are with a new movie that is meant to be a different love story and an entertainer. Let us see if it was impressive or not.

Story:

Sasi Kumar (Jagapathi) and Shailaja (Priyamani) study in the same college and though they are of opposite natures Shailaja gets attracted to Sasi. However, he doesn’t believe in love and Shailaja is disgusted with him. They get into their lives separately.

The film is set in Mutyala Revu. Amaravathi (Bhumika) and Seenu (Tarakaratna) are childhood buddies but are separated once they become adults as Amaravathi’s father doesn’t like his daughter becoming close with this low class guy. Seenu is completely obsessed with Amaravathi. Years later, a series of killings happen. A serial killer is on the prowl to snatch babies from womb of pregnant women. Seenu is the prime suspect and is arrested by Special Task Force police officer Venkat (Ravi Babu) and his associate Kiran (Gadde Sindhura). Even after his arrest, murders continue to happen. And it is revealed that the killer’s next target is Venkat’s pregnant wife Lata (Sneha). Who is that serial killer and what is his motive is told in eerie manner in the later sequences.

Arya (Allu Arjun) and Ajay (Navadeep) are friends since childhood. Or put it straight, Arya forces Ajay to make friendship with him. Arya is always obsessive to be with Ajay. Varun (Varun Sandesh) is happy go-lucky middle class youngster. He is unemployed but he is passionate about bikes and dreams of owning a bike on his own. His father (Tanikella) constantly scolds him for his waywardly acts. One day, after a verbal confrontation between with his father, he gets Rs 70,000 from their parents and buys a bike. Soon after he gets a job, also he gets nod from his girlfriend Hema (Neha Sharma). As everything is going smooth, suddenly he runs into fight with dreaded don Satya’s (Ravi Shankar) brother and soon after his bike his stolen by this gang. Then his entire life is changed and his family is in danger.

What’s it about!

It is about how two lovers unite their warring families. Typical family drama. Bhavani Shankar (Mukesh Rushi) and Narasimha (Jaya Prakash Reddy) wage war against each other but their offspring Ram (Kalyanram Nandamuri), son of Bhavani Shankar and Anjali (Hansika), daughter of Narasinha, fall in love. They decide to unite their families and also make their love success.

Sai (Sairam Shankar) runs a mechanic shed. This mechanic runs into a hotheaded rich girl Aishwarya (Bindu Madhavi) and she mistakenly makes beat him up by rowdy gang. Soon this rather ‘unusual acquaintance’ turns into romance. But Aishwarya’s father Surya Prakash (Shayaji Shinde), a rich businessman, puts one condition if he were to accept their love. The condition is that Sai should earn 10 percent of his wealth. Instead of taking up this challenge, our hero says that he would rather bring Surya Prakash to his level of poverty. How hero makes Surya Prakash pauper is the rest of the film.
