Model-actress Meera Chopra booked for alleged murder
Noida: Model-actress and cousin of a Bollywood actor, Meera Chopra has been arrested in connection with the death of a 28-year-old married woman in Gurgaon on Tuesday.
The deceased, Ruchi Bhuttan was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her posh DLF City house. While victim Ruchi’s in-laws claimed it was suicide, her relatives suspected foul play and blamed her husband Sumit Bhuttan.
Apparently, Sumit has an extra marital relationship with Meera Chopra.
While Sumit was booked yesterday, Gurgaon police arrested model Meera Chopra today and have registered a case against her under Section 120B of the IPC.
RGV lodges complaint on BJP
Controversy’s favourite child Ram Gopal Varma is in news again after he announced that he will cast Maria Susairaj in his film ‘It is not a love story’. Political parties in Maharashtra protested on his decision to cast Maria in his movie.
A few parties even held a demonstration outside his office in Mumbai. Varma went to the Police station and filed a complaint on BJP. Ramu has decided to seek judicial and police intervention following telephone threats to him by BJP Yuva Morcha on casting Maria in his film.
Kerala temple treasure will be filmed: SC
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Wednesday said that unearthing process of Rs 1 lakh crore treasure trove inside Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Kerala should be filmed and photographed.
It expressed serious concern on the fight that has begun over the treasure trove. The apex court proposed appointment of a curator of a museum to preserve the treasure being unearthed from the temple.
The court said that it will pass orders relating to conservation of the artefacts after taking opinion of experts on Friday.
It would also decide which item should be displayed in the museum and others to be kept in safe vaults.
Producer C Kalyan arrested in Chennai
Andhra Pradesh’s CID Police officers today (June 29, 2011) arrested producer C Kalyan in Chennai where he was hiding from the police. In case related to financial dealings with the Bhanu, the prime suspect in murder of faction leader Maddelachervu Suri. Two days ago, Kalyan approached court through his lawyer to seek anticipatory bail but he didn’t get and Police have been looking for him to arrest and they found he’s hiding in Chennai city.
Shalimaar Video company also lodged a complaint against C Kalyan for cheating their company relating to the video rights of films Khaleja and Komaram Puli.
I want to be C.M in real life: Chiranjeevi
Megastar turned politician Chiranjeevi has made it official that he won’t be putting on make-up to his face. When asked about the rumors of he playing a role of Chief Minister in his forthcoming movie, Chiranjeevi emphatically stated that he is dedicated his life to public service now and not interested in returning to films. He also further added that he would love to play the role of Chief Minister in real life than on silver screen.
“I ask my fans to see me in the performances of Ram Charan on screen. I will not act again, ” he said.
Singanamala Ramesh in police custody
Producer Singanamala Ramesh, who produced big budgeted films like Mahesh Babu’s Khaleja and Pawan Kalyan’s Komaram Puli , was arrested by Hyderabad Police in the wee hours of Friday (June 24, 2011) at his residence in Chennai. Police found he had murky financial dealings with Bhanu, the prime suspect in the case of faction leader Maddelacheruvu Suri. Both Ramesh and his wife were arrested but his wife was released immediately as she got bail but Ramesh was denied bail.
Singanamala Ramesh began his career in the film industry as film financier and soon turned producer and made big budgeted movies in both Telugu and Tamil languages. (telugucinema)
Jayasudha hospitalized
Senior actress-politician Jayasudha, who is serving as Secunderabad MLA, has been hospitalized on Tuesday.
Jayasudha’s personal assistant confirmed that she was rushed to hospital in the capital after she suffered gastric problems. She is currently undergoing treatment and will be discharged in a couple of days.
Jayasudha is staying away from films these days due to her office as MLA. However, she recently signed up for a role in Pawan Kalyan’s Dabangg remake Gabbar Singh, directed by Harish Shankar.(galatta)
Gunaskehar refutes allegations
Veteran producer M.S.Reddy’s controversial remarks against director Gunashekar have created furor. Soon after Mr.Reddy’s comments were published in the media, director Gunasekhar immediately gave clarification and had refuted allegations made on him. He termed Mr.Reddy’s autobiography as fictional story.

Sydney `SlutWalk` sends ‘dress no invitation for sexual assault’ message
Melbourne: Even as rain deterred plans of thousands of women who were to turn up at Sydney’s SlutWalk protest, those who did make it managed to make the event a powerful one.
Despite the low turnout, the message was loud and clear: women`s dress is not an invitation for sexual assault.
Most of the 200-odd people who gathered at Town Hall were rugged up for the chilly weather.
Some women were scantily clad and many men in attendance were dressed in women`s clothes.
They carried signs with the slogans: “Proud and happy slut”, “Blame rapists not boobs” and one woman had written on her breasts: “Can`t touch these without consent”.
South superstar Rajinikanth to be discharged soon
Mumbai: Tamil superstar Rajinikanth is showing huge improvement in his health and the actor is expected to be discharged anytime on Tuesday.
Apparently, buzz has it that Rajini will be out of the hospital tomorrow morning but he won’t immediately return to India.
Talking to a daily, a source said, “Rajini has been advised to stay in Singapore for a while so that the doctors who have treated him can do periodical checkups for a few weeks. Superstar will be back to India in July.”
Salman Khan in trouble again
The actor may have unwittingly bought land which legally cannot be bought or sold as it belongs to the entire village.
On Thursday, more than 250 villagers gathered at the talathi’s office in Panvel, protesting what they say is an illegal sale of their land to a political leader and actor Salman Khan.
The actor, who is embroiled in two other court cases, may be looking at a protracted legal battle again, because according to the rule book, buying or selling of land which belongs to any village is a cognisable offence.
Rajini in Singapore hospital on Big B’s advice
Mumbai: Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has been constantly in touch with superstar Rajinikanth and his family ever since the ‘Robot’ star was hospitalized last month.
Rajini, who flew to Singapore recently for further treatment of renal failure, was actually advised by Big B to head to Mount Elizabeth Hospital. And, apparently he also had a word with the doctors over there.
Talking to a daily, a source close to Rajini’s family said, “Rajiniji has been diagnosed with renal failure leading to kidney complications. Rajiniji’s family is indebted to Amitji for recommending the treatment in Singapore.”

National Award for Salman’s ‘Dabangg’
Salman Khan-starrer Dabangg got the 58th National Award for wholesome entertainment, which was announced here today.
The National Award for best actor will be shared by Tamil cinema”s Dhanush and Malayalam actor Salim Kumar for their work in “Aadukalam” and “Adaminde Makan Abu”, respectively.
Marathi actress Mitalee Jagtap Paradhar won the National Award for best actress for her performance in the movie “Baboo Band Baaja”.
Best cinematographer award has been awarded to Madhu Ambat, while best audiography went to Ishqiya.

Rajinikanth is fine, says his wife Latha
Chennai: Clearing the air on Tamil superstar Rajinikanth’s illness, who was yesterday admitted to ICU at the Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre, the sixty-one year old superstar’s wife Latha held a press conference and told the media that Rajinikanth is doing fine.
Thanking all the fans of Rajini, a confident Latha said, “I would like to thank all of you for the love and affection for this family. He is doing fine, all his organs are fine.”
Citing dehydration and stomach infection as the cause of illness, Latha added that, “Do not write more than necessary. Rajini is in ICU because it is a sterile and protected place. Doctors are working to put him in comfortable parameters.”
‘Ladies & Gentleman’ sold for 28 crores!
Mumbai: Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai starrer ‘Ladies & Gentleman’ has been picked up by a film corporation for whopping 28 crore. The film is being directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and it is supposed to a comedy.
According to trade sources, “Ash and Abhi still hold a curiosity with the audience. ‘Guru’ was a hit, while ‘Raavan’ a flop. However, the audience likes seeing them together. So ‘Ladies & Gentleman’, that will go on the floors in June, is already sold.”
The shooting of the film is scheduled to begin in June.
Poonam Pandey, Mallya dragged to court on nudity
BHOPAL: Model Poonam Pandey, who has vowed to strip naked if India wins the World Cup cricket title, has been dragged to court here, with a lawyer accusing her of depicting Brahmins in poor light.
RK Pandey also named Indian liquor baron Vijay Mallya, who included a scantily-clad Poonam in his company Kingfisher calendar, in his petition filed in the court of Bhopal’s chief judicial magistrate.
Mallya has been accused of prompting Poonam to go for nudity.
“Even if Poonam does not run naked, she should be punished as she not only gave a wrong impression of the (Brahmin) community but insulted Indian culture,” the lawyer told reporters. The case will be heard April 5.(IANS)

Shiney Ahuja Gets Seven Years In Jail
Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja has been convicted for raping his domestic help by a Mumbai court. The Sewri court in Mumbai has sentenced the actor to a minimum of seven years in prison.
Shiney broke down in court after the verdict was being read out, he was taken to jail directly from court.
His wife Anupam Ahuja, sat down next to him on the floor consoling him. “My husband is innocent,” she said.
While convicting the accused, Judge P M Chouhan relied mainly upon the FIR in the case, Shiney’s lawyer Srikant Shivade told reporters who were not allowed in the court as the trial was held in-camera.
